In this series of paintings, Čiurlionis attempts to summarize the life of natural phenomena through the continually repeating states of day, evening, and night. Unfortunately, the fourth painting in the series, “Morning”, has not survived. In these paintings, nature is personified. The same motif of the hand is repeated in all the paintings, either with outstretched fingers, a single finger, or a clenched fist. A very important role is played here by the clouds. They seem to reflect the processes occurring on the ground, only on a divine level.
