This retrospective exhibition of M. K. Čiurlionis’s artistic legacy, titled “M. K. Čiurlionis: Fantasist and Mystic of Fin-de-siecle Lithuania”, was held at the Sezon Museum of Art in Tokyo, Japan, from March 5 to April 5, 1992.

The exhibition was initiated by Japanese Prime Minister J. Nakasone, who had visited Lithuania in 1987.

The exhibition was supplemented with literature about M. K. Čiurlionis, biographical photographs, and reproductions of “The Creation of the World.” Recordings of M. K. Čiurlionis’s music were played during the exhibition (and were also distributed), and a quartet performed at the exhibition once a week.

The Emperor of Japan and his wife visited the exhibition.

A two-part catalog was published in three languages. The catalog can be browsed in the Information Centre of M. K. Čiurlionis Gallery in M. K. Čiurlionis National Museum of Art.
