PROGRAM

❯ Holy Mass

❯ Concert “Reconstructing Čiurlionis: The First Concert of the Lithuanian Art Society”

Performed by the choirs Adoramus and Momentum, together with pianist Rokas Zubovas, great-grandson of M. K. Čiurlionis.

In 2023, marking the 115th anniversary of this historic concert, the Vilnius Sacred Music Choir Adoramus initiated its reconstruction. In collaboration with Dr. Charris Efthimiou, researcher at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz and a member of the international team of musicologists dedicated to the study of Čiurlionis’ musical heritage, the original 1908 concert program and critical editions of the works were authentically restored from manuscript sources.

On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of M. K. Čiurlionis, the Vilnius Sacred Music Choir Adoramus (artistic director and conductor Dr. Imantas Jonas Šimkus), together with the choir Momentum (artistic director and conductor Dr. Imantas Jonas Šimkus) and Rokas Zubovas, invites audiences to immerse themselves in this musical and historical experience and to relive the authentically reconstructed concert as it was first performed.

The program features not only newly revived and refined Lithuanian folk songs and two versions of De Profundis, but also rarely heard sacred works by Čiurlionis.
