The exhibition “M. K. Čiurlionis: The Inner Constellation” is presented in a celebratory spirit marking the 150th anniversary of the birth of Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis. This is the first retrospective exhibition of his work in Japan in 34 years.

Approximately 80 major paintings and graphic works from the collection of the M. K. Čiurlionis National Museum of Art are on display. Among the many fantastical works depicting the spiritual world of humankind and the mysteries of the universe, the most enigmatic masterpiece, Rex (King), is being exhibited in Japan for the first time.

In addition, through a series of works that incorporate musical forms, handwritten musical scores, and melodies resonating throughout the exhibition space, visitors can experience the individuality and sensitivity of the artist, who was also an outstanding composer.

Since 2000, exhibitions have been held at the Musée d’Orsay in Paris and in other parts of Europe, and the world of Čiurlionis has been gaining renewed international recognition.
