Musical education "Čiurlionis and Others... in the Forest" invites you to explore the history of Lithuanian music through the theme of the forest in the works of M. K. Čiurlionis and his contemporaries.

The starting point of the education is a unique object of cultural heritage stored in the Martynas Mažvydas National Library of Lithuania – the first recording of Lithuanian symphonic music and at the same time the first recording of M. K. Čiurlionis' symphonic music on a shellac record – the symphonic poem "In the Forest", which was recorded in Berlin in 1942 under the baton of Vytautas Marijošius.

The programme presents the history of this exceptional recording and its digitised version. Participants will also learn about works by other composers of the early 20th century, inspired by the theme of forest and nature, and will be able to compare them with the musical world of Čiurlionis.
