In the fall, when nature is slumbering, the Forest longs most of all for the inhabitant who abandoned it long ago—man. That is why, in the “Magical Forest,” we encounter installations of abandoned farmsteads, the Kelms wailing as they try to summon people from the city, and the Maumuks, Samanuks, and fairy-tale kings, all rejoicing at every returning visitor.

The forest misses you dearly and invites you to join it in welcoming Ilges, to experience the dark days of autumn in your own way, and to gather by the light of candles, bonfires, and lanterns in a special non-horror program. These evenings of longing will be special also because we’ll encounter our own shadows without fear of seeing in them what we cannot see when we’re on the dark side of the screen.

At the magical times of 5:17 p.m., and later at 6:18 p.m., 7:19 p.m., 8:20 p.m., and 9:21 p.m., five paintings by our genius Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis will come to life—they’re like your own five senses emerging from a dream of memories, woven into an enchanting tale by Čiurlionis’s poetic symphony “In the Forest,” and embodied by the mysterious characters of the “Magical Forest.” What tale do the Kings of the Forest tell us? And what tale would you tell yourself if you believed you were a King?

The Garden of Delicacies will be fragrant with cocoa, the Bear’s Mill will be spinning, the Herbarium will shine not only with plant installations, and in the Grove of Secrets, the kind-hearted Benosė will mow down the evil spirits.

Return to the Forest.
