Celebrating the 150th anniversary of M. K. Čiurlionis' birth, his works continue to inspire numerous artists, and his music stirs and captivates the hearts of listeners. The project "After Čiurlionis" is an interpretation of the music of Lithuania's genius, presented through the musical perspectives of two masters of jazz and improvisational music – Dmitrij Golovanov and Jan Maksimovič.

The concert program "After Čiurlionis" consists of arranged preludes by M.K. Čiurlionis for piano. Preludes, as a historically established genre of improvisational music, blend well with the music philosophy of jazz masters and improvisers. Their skills and experience allow them to competently develop potential scenarios for the evolution of Čiurlionis' music.

The program was prepared by well-known Lithuanian jazz and improvisational music performers, saxophonist Jan Maksimovič and pianist Dmitrij Golovanov. Both musicians are prominent and active participants in the cultural scene, having performed at significant national venues. Their concert geography is broad, and they have collaborated with international artists. Jan and Dmitrij are dedicated to the art of music and respected pedagogues.

In the "After Čiurlionis" program, a unique approach to interpreting Čiurlionis' music is revealed: a cultural dialogue is developed between classical music, contemporary jazz, and improvisation. While interpreting the preludes, the musicians reject jazz stereotypes, using authentic motifs characteristic of Čiurlionis' harmony and musical language. This duo, which nurtures an almost telepathic connection, embodies Čiurlionis' music, transforming and reconstructing it into large improvisational forms.

During the concert, the latest 2025 CD album "After Čiurlionis" will be presented, which listeners can purchase after the performance.

Pianist Dmitrij Golovanov has been one of the most active participants in the jazz scene for two decades. His artistic and organizational achievements are truly impressive in the fields of festivals, creative projects, and international collaboration. During his studies, he interned with legendary U.S. pianist Richie Beirach in Germany, where he acquired not only deep knowledge of jazz but also a distinctive, precise, and expressive playing style. His professional career is decorated with awards, including the Grand Prix in the solo pianist competition, a finalist diploma in the Europe Jazz Competition, the Golden Disc from the Musicians' Union for active work, and the prestigious Birštonas Jazz Festival Grand Prix for contributions to Lithuanian jazz. Dmitrijs discography includes over 15 CD albums, among which 3 are solo and 6 in which he is a co-author of projects and music.

Saxophonist Jan Maksimovič is special among jazz musicians of the middle generation. His playing style is characterized by a rich palette of sound expression, wide technical possibilities, and distinctive, often unexpected musical phrasing. Along with vast experience in the field of improvisational music, he is capable of achieving strikingly expressive artistry, opening the hearts and minds of listeners. For several decades, Jan has been an active leader of various ensembles and has also performed as a guest musician with the country's most prominent performers. His stage partners have also included Tim Daisy, the Vein Trio, the National Symphony Orchestra, and many others.
