On the occasion of the 145th birth anniversary of Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis, the Lithuanian National Philharmonic presents internationally acclaimed Norwegian pianist Håvard Gimse, performing in such concert halls as Wigmore Hall in London, Carnegie Hall in New York, Palais des Beaux Arts in Brussels, Berlin Konzerthaus or Josef Suk Hall in Prague. The recipient of the Steinway, Grieg and Sibelius awards is praised as a recitalist and chamber musician; his wide repertoire includes more than 30 piano concertos. Gimse has earned many awards for his recordings. The pianist has performed with orchestras on several continents, including the Stockholm, Oslo, Danish Radio, the Royal Liverpool, Birmingham, Baltimore, the Belgian National, and the Philharmonic of Japan symphony orchestras. Tonight’s programme features Norwegian, Finnish and Lithuanian music.

The organisers of this conference attempt to bring musicologists, art researchers, philosophers and scholars of cultural discourse together and encourage them to cooperate in developing a more comprehensive interdisciplinary research of Čiurlionis’s work. Papers are welcome in various formats and from various fields, related to the topics listed below.
